About DFWI

## The need
Military and police families experience distinctive pressures arising from deployment, separation, uncertainty, injury, bereavement, repeated relocation and the demands placed on serving personnel. These pressures can affect spouses, children and family relationships. Access to trusted support may also be limited by distance, stigma or uncertainty about where to seek help.
DFWI responds by creating safe, respectful and practical support pathways within the service-family community.

A resilient military and police community in which personnel and their families can access timely, dignified and sustainable support for their wellbeing.
## Mission
To strengthen service families through accessible wellness services, psychosocial support, peer networks, education, strategic partnerships and community-based interventions.
## Strategic objectives
- Establish pilot Wellness Centres in Kaduna and Abuja, followed by progressive regional expansion.
- Provide counselling, trauma-informed support, information, referral services and confidential helpline access.
- Train Mental Health Champions to promote early support, peer engagement and stigma reduction.
- Build referral partnerships with qualified healthcare and social-support providers.
- Strengthen family resilience through wellness education, community activities and appropriate economic-empowerment linkages.
- Measure outcomes, publish approved impact reports and improve services through feedback and learning.
